I recently ran across this study done by IDC that was sponsored by Facebook, about what smartphone owners typically use their phones for in a day and over a week.
The numbers were both surprising and unsurprising to me, because chances are if you have a smartphone and a Facebook account, you will check Facebook on your phone at least once in a day.
One fact they provided that was a little surprising was that the projected numbers for 2013 have little over half (57.3% oraccording to the data) of America’s population owning and using a smartphone. This doesn’t indicate what they use it for, this is just the number of users.
This number is a little surprising, because that 57.3% can’t just consist of adults only. I know people who give their teenagers, and yes, even middle and elementary school children iPhones and Blackberries. I remember the days when it was cool to have a flip phone, and that giving an elementary school child a cell phone period was an almost unheard of practice.
Take a minute to peruse the data in this survey and leave your comments on what numbers stood out to you the most.
